At It's Okay to Grieve, we are passionate about providing our group with a safe space, where healing takes place. My name is Mechell Graham! I am a Certified Grief Counselor and I have a Specialty in Suicide. My journey started four years ago. Grief didn't start as a movement for me... It started as a moment I never saw coming. A moment that changed everything. A moment that left me trying to figure out how to breathe again...how to function... and how to keep going when everything inside of me felt broken.
And what made it even harder was this - The world around me kept moving. People expected strength. They expected silence. They expected me to "be okay" before I actually was. So I learned how to smile through my pain. How to show up while falling apart inside, and how to carry grief quietly...so no one would feel uncomfortable.
But the truth is... I wasn't okay. And, I realized something in that season: There are so many people walking around like I was, hurting in silence. Grieving behind closed doors. Feeling like their pain is too much, too messy, or too inconvenient for the world. That's when "It's Okay to Grieve" was born. It came from pain. From unanswered questions. From nights that felt too heavy and days that felt impossible. But most importantly - A space where healing can begin with honesty. Because the truth is - It's Okay to Grieve... It's necessary!
Grief is not a weakness. It is not something to fix, rush or hide. Grief is love that has nowhere to go. We believe that healing does not come from "moving on"... It comes from allowing yourself to move through.
We believe:
We believe:
Grief is not meant to be carried alone. It is meant to be witnessed, held, and honored. To many people suffer in silience because the world tells them:
We believe that love deserves space. At "It's Okay to Grieve," we create that space - A space where tears are not judged. A space where stories are not silienced, and a space where people don't have to pretend.
